So I just wrote you a really long and thoughtful response, and when I was on the very last paragraph my computer decided to delete it for no reason.

And it really bothers me because what you're saying is really true and I was going to support it with personal examples that could help provide some insight into the psychology of these people.

But there's no way in Hell I'm retyping all that, so here's a quick summary:

These people are useless assholes that are so entitled they genuinely expect the entire world to rally around them when they say these things, and lack anything close to self-awareness.
